Concept of Use: The armored vehicle crewmens helmet offers
impact protection with noise attenuation communication
capabilities.
Description of Item: The DH-132 helmet consists of a rigid
outer protective shell which is attached to a spearate inner
liner by means of a snap fastener at the right and left temple
areas and at the center of the back of the head,and by velcro
tape running from the crown to the forehead area. The inner
consists of foam energy-absorbing sections enclosed in a
Nomex-mesh fabric with leather fastener mounts for attaching
the outer shell and the chin strap. A rigid outer cup with a
foam-padded inner seal earphone is inserted into openings in
the Nomex mesh of the inner liner. The microphone boom is
attached to the right rigid ear cup. The earphone switch and
the upper earphone cord are attached to the left cup. A rectractable
(coil spring type) cord for plugging into the communications
system of the vehicle is attached to the upper cord.
Materials Used: The inner liner consists of energy-absorbing
foam sections encased in a Nomex-mesh fabric. The outershell is
hard cover laminated fabric.
